UFC Announces Gustafsson Fighting Nogueira Next
By FCF Staff
Following UFC Fight Night 30 today in Manchester, England, the promotion announced that it will return to the nation on March 8th, and that Alexander Gustafsson will fight Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in the main event. The card will take place in London.
The announcement comes not long after Daniel Cormier relayed he’s not interested in making his light-heavyweight debut overseas, where Gustafsson has been expected to fight next (although initially it was believed he’d fight in his native Sweden).
Gustafsson (15-2) is coming off a memorable war with light-heavyweight champ Jon Jones at UFC 165, which saw him lose a competitive, unanimous decision.
Nogueira (21-5) has scored wins over Rashad Evans and Tito Ortiz in his last two outings, after losing bouts to Phil Davis and Ryan Bader. The renowned vet is currently ranked #5 in the promotion’s division.
The UFC has also confirmed that if Gustafsson defeats Nogueira, and Jones gets by Glover Teixeira, the two will be booked for a rematch.
