After months of speculation as to whether Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov will fight, the UFC announced on Friday that the stars will battle October 6th.

The fight will headline UFC 229, which will be hosted by the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on that date.

In April, Nurmagomedov (26-0) won the lightweight title McGregor was stripped of, by earning a decision win over Al Iaquinta at UFC 223.

McGregor (21-3) was stripped of the title since he hasn’t fought in the Octagon since November, 2016, when he won the 155 belt by stopping Eddie Alvarez.
