As many expected would be the case, the UFC has announced that Frankie Edgar will be the first man to challenge new undisputed, featherweight champ, Max Holloway.

Recently the promotion announced that the two will fight on December 2nd, at UFC 218 in Detroit.

Holloway (18-3) unified the featherweight belts in June, by stopping now former champ Jose Aldo at UFC 212. The win was the Hawaiian star’s 11th in a row.

Edgar (22-5-1) is coming off wins over Jeremy Stephens and Yair Rodriguez, after he lost by decision to Aldo in July, 2016. The former lightweight champ is 4-1 in his last 5 contests.

UFC 218 will be hosted by Little Caesars Arena.
