UFC Boston: Greg Hardy’s Win Overturned Due to Use of Inhaler

Greg Hardy did not end up recording his sixth pro-victory at UFC Boston after all, as the heavyweight’s decision win over Ben Sosoli has been overturned.

In between the second and third rounds of the heavyweight fight, Hardy used an inhaler. The former NFL player stated afterward that he uses it for his asthma, and Hardy reported he had asked a commission representative whether it was okay to use during a fight. Use of an inhaler during a bout is not allowed, however, and the fight’s been ruled a no-contest.

While talking to the media about the change, Hardy said this (quote via MMA Junkie):

“(I’m) super sad,” Hardy said. “It’s a ventolin albuterol inhaler for exercise-induced asthma. I used it my whole life. I sign the commission paperwork when I weighed in. It’s on the USADA paperwork when I take every single drug test so that y’all know that I’m not taking steroids. I’m just naturally a monster.”

Hardy’s pro-record now stands at 5-1, with 1 no-contest.
