UFC Brooklyn: Glover Teixeira Argues Ion Cutelaba’s “Not on Our Level Yet”
By FCF Staff
Glover Teixera believes Ion Cutelaba has a bright future ahead of him in the fight game, but the perennial contender thinks the rising fighter will be in over his head at UFC Brooklyn.
The 25-year-old Cutelaba has been booked to fight the 39-year-old Teixeira at the January 19th card, after going 3-2 to date in the Octagon. Recently Teixeira was asked to weigh-in on the upcoming contest, and the light-heavyweight said this (quote via MMA Junkie):
“I’ll have the perfect strategy to beat him,” Teixeira said. “Between youth and experience, of course youth is better. But not in this fight. I think he’s a young guy who has a lot of learning ahead of him. I’ll beat him without a doubt. He’s not on our level yet, compared to the top five or top 10 in our weight class. Of course, he’ll have a lot of great accomplishments in his career – just not this time.”
Teixeira will be competing for the first time since July, when he lost via decision to Corey Anderson. Cutelaba, meanwhile, is coming off a stoppage win over Gadzhimurad Antigulov that same month.
