By FCF Staff

Following the recent news that Matt Serra will be inducted into the UFC’s Hall of Fame as a “Pioneer”, the promotion’s announced that UFC co-founder, Art Davie, is also receiving the honor.

Davie, who worked with Rorion Gracie and then SEG to promote the first UFC card in 1993, is being inducted into the Hall of Fame as a “Contributor”. In the official announcement, Davie is quoted saying:

“Being inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame is the greatest honor that can be bestowed to anyone involved with the sport of mixed martial arts,” Davie said. “Watching UFC become mainstream and break all these records over the years has been like watching my child go out and conquer the world. I’m so proud of what UFC has become and I’m thrilled my part in its creation is being celebrated during its 25th anniversary.”

Davie continued to work for the UFC as a matchmaker and advisor until January, 1998. The official Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on July 5th in Las Vegas, Nevada.
