Glover Teixeira survived a scare at UFC FN 28 in the form of Ryan Bader’s punches, and proceeded to put away the powerful wrestler with strikes for the first round victory. The stoppage win extended the light-heavyweight’s impressive winning streak to 20, and also secured him a title shot.

UFC Director of International Development Marshall Zelaznik announced afterwards that Teixeira will fight the winner of Jon Jones-Alexander Gustafsson. That fight will take place on September 21st at UFC 165 in Toronto, Ontario.

The win over Bader was Teixeira’s fifth straight under the UFC banner, and followed victories over Kyle Kingsbury, Kyle Kingsbury, Fabio Maldonando and “Rampage” Jackson.

UFC FN 28 was hosted by Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
