UFC Confirms Rousey-Correia, Rua-Nogueira Set For August 1st
By FCF Staff
As reported earlier in the week, Ronda Rousey’s next title defence will go down on August 1st versus Bethe Correia.
On Friday, the promotion confirmed that the bantamweight fight will headline UFC 190, which will take place at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In addition, the UFC has announced that “Shogun” Rua will battle fellow, light-heavyweight vet Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at the event.
Rousey (11-0) is coming off a stunning, 14 second submission win over Cat Zingano last month. Correia (9-0), meanwhile, has gone 3-0 in the UFC to date, and has stopped Rousey’s friends / training partners Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszler during that time.
Rua (22-10) will be looking to rebound from a KO loss to Ovince St. Preux in December, while Nogueira (21-6) will be attempting to get back on track, after he was quickly stopped by Anthony Johnson in July.
Nogueira and Rua fought ten years ago at a PRIDE event, and the latter won the thrilling bout via unanimous decision.
No other bouts have been announced yet for UFC 190.
