UFC “Fight for the Troops III”: Yves Edwards Fighting Yancy Medeiros
By FCF Staff
The UFC’s upcoming “Fight for the Troops III” card is likely completed, as the promotion has announced that lightweight vet Yves Edwards will battle Yancy Medeiros at the November 6th event. With the announcement, 12 fights have been booked now for the card, which will take place at Fort Campbell in Kentucky.
Edwards (42-20-1) will be looking to rebound from back-to-back split decision losses he’s incurred versus Isaac Vallie-Flagg and most recently Daron Cruickshank, after knocking out Jeremy Stephens last December. The 36 year-old fighter is 2-3 in his last five bouts.
Medeiros (9-1) is coming off his first pro defeat, as the 26 year-old was forced to retire after suffering a thumb injury during his Octagon debut versus Rustam Khabilov. The injury took place at UFC 159 in April. Medeiros won two consecutive fights under the Strikeforce banner before joining the UFC.
UFC FN 31 will be headlined by a middleweight bout between Lyoto Machida and Tim Kennedy and will be broadcast on FOX Sports 1.
