UFC FN 103: BJ Penn Tells Fighters to “Become the Money Fight Yourself”
By FCF Staff
A recent trend in MMA is for fighters to call for “money fights”, and BJ Penn seems to be growing tired of it…
Over the last year or so, more and more high profile fighters have campaigned for bouts that would deliver big money, rather than a title shot or championship. Recently Penn spoke to FOX Sports, in advance of his fight this Sunday with Yair Rodriguez. Here is what the legend had to say about the “money fight” trend:
“I’ll tell you this, I’m not the guy to go out there and say ‘oh give me this money fight, give me that money fight’,” Penn said. “I look at all these guys doing that and I’m like why don’t you go knock out a 100 guys and become the money fight yourself?”
Penn will be fighting for the first time at UFC FN 103 since 2014, when he was stopped by Frankie Edgar. The January 15th card will take place in Phoenix, Arizona.
