UFC FN 108: Cub Swanson Argues Artem Lobov’s Record Isn’t UFC Worthy

Cub Swanson will take on Artem Lobov in the headliner of UFC Fight Night 108 tonight, but the perennial, featherweight contender doesn’t believe his opponent should be in a headlining position. In fact, Swanson doesn’t think the “The Russian Hammer’s” record warrants a UFC roster spot.

Lobov has been booked for the bout following back-to-back decision wins over Chris Avila and Teruto Ishihara. Lobov, who is a training partner of Conor McGregor, has gone 2-2 in official UFC bouts and has a 13-12-1 record overall.

During the latest “UFC Tonight“, Swanson had this to say about Lobov and the featherweight’s record (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release)”:

“I fought most of the people in the top ten, and the UFC doesn’t like to do rematches unless they’re for title fights. There are a lot of guys coming up. He was talking crap and he was talking a lot, so I said sure, let’s do it.”

“I don’t feel like he had the record to be in the UFC. There are more deserving people with better records. But he’s here now and he called me out, so I don’t like him.”

Swanson (24-7), meanwhile, is riding a three fight winning streak and earned a decision win over rising 145’er Doo Ho Choi in his last bout.
