UFC FN 116: Thiago Alves Believes “Probably 99% of the MMA Community” Dislikes Mike Perry

It hasn’t taken Mike Perry long to make his presence felt in the UFC’s welterweight division, but it doesn’t sound like Thiago Alves is a fan of the heavy handed fighter.

Alves will face Perry at UFC Fight Night 116 this Saturday, which will take place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Perry is coming off a vicious, knockout win over Jake Ellenberger in April, which saw him celebrate the victory with a breakdancing routine, as doctors attended to the latter.

While discussing Perry recently, and his post-fight celebration, Alves had this to say (quotes via UFC.com):

“I think I speak for probably 99 percent of the MMA community – nobody likes this guy,” Alves said. “That’s his choice, that’s how he wants to sell himself and that’s on him and his people. I don’t worry about what he does, but it definitely motivates me a little more to go out there and **** him up, absolutely.”

“He’s a good boxer; everything else, he hasn’t shown much,” added Alves. “It’s kind of easy to prepare for a guy like that – I respect his power, I respect what he’s done, but I’ve got power too and I don’t have just hands. I’ve got a whole bunch of weapons that I can throw at him.

“The better guy that he fought – Alan Jouban – messed him up; dropped him with a left hand and the guy’s not even a southpaw…”

Alves, meanwhile, worked his way to a decision win over Patrick Cote in his last bout, which took place in April.
