UFC FN 129: Demian Maia Discusses Future Following Latest Defeat

Demian Maia may have suffered a third straight, one sided loss on Saturday night, but the vaunted grappler still intends to fight out his new UFC contract.
Maia took on rising welterweight Kamaru Usman in the main event of UFC Fight Night 129. The perennial contender was unable to take the experienced wrestler down, and Usman proceeded to out strike Maia en route to a decision win.
After the bout, the 40 year-old Maia had this to say, while discussing his future (quote via MMA Junkie):
“I still have three fights under my contract,” Maia said through an interpreter. “I want to do those three fights. It was short notice for this fight; I only prepared for three weeks. And actually my last three fights were against wrestlers. My game plan is to take the fighters down, so it was tough fights. But I still have the will to finish my contract.”
The Brazilian star also said that he hopes to beat the UFC’s current record for wins, which is 20. Maia has recorded 19 to date in the Octagon.
