UFC FN 129: Demian Maia Says New Contract Could be His Last
By FCF Staff
Demian Maia recently signed a new deal with the UFC, and it sounds like it could be the former welterweight and middleweight challenger’s last.
Maia has inked a new, four fight cpntract in advance of his bout this Saturday with Kamaru Usman. Maia will face the rising welterweight at UFC Fight Night 129 in Santiago, Chile.
The Brazilian star was recently a guest on “The MMA Hour”, and the 40 year-old Maia relayed the following about his future (quote via MMA Fighting):
“…Everything is set up right now and for me, it’s a big challenge for sure, but I’m thinking that I want to fight this year, maybe next year finish these fights on my contract because I love to fight and I’m still performing well during training camps.”
“But I don’t know if I will still fight after next year. So this could be my last contract with the UFC and after that I retire.”
Maia is coming off back-to-back losses to champion Tyron Woodley and Colby Covington, after winning seven straight.
