Marlon Moraes

The consensus heading into UFC Fight Night 131 was that a decisive win for either Jimmie Rivera or Marlon Moraes, could deliver a shot at the bantamweight title. Well, after Moraes managed to do just that on Friday, the former WSOF champ says he’ll wait for a title fight.

Moraes faced Rivera in the card’s headliner, and quickly took out the contender with a head kick and follow up punches. After the pivotal win, Moraes told the media this (quote via MMA Junkie):

“I really don’t want any other fight,” Moraes said. “I want to fight for the belt. I’m definitely waiting.”

“…I’m going to go back home and train. That was a fight, and like I said before the fight, matchups make fighters. I fought him, and the way I beat him, that was the way somebody who deserves to fight for the title should perform.”

With Friday’s win, Moraes has now gone 3-1 in the UFC, and his overall record sits at 21-5-1.
