Leading up to UFC Fight Night 133, Junior dos Santos reported he was interested in a rubber match with Stipe Miocic, and following his win Saturday, JDS proposed it be a title shot eliminator.

Dos Santos took on Blagoy Ivanov at UFC FN 133, and worked his way to a decision win over the former WSOF heavyweight champ. After his win, JDS relayed this, while discussing his hopes for a third fight with Miocic (quote via MMA Junkie):

“That would be a good fight, and I want that because I think we deserve it, both of us,” said Dos Santos.

“…We’re going to have to wait a little bit now, because Brock Lesnar and Daniel Cormier will fight. We could do this fight, and maybe the winner will fight for the title.”

Dos Santos defeated Miocic by decision in their first, 2014 fight, but the latter recorded a stoppage win in their 2017 rematch.

Miocic lost the heavyweight title to Daniel Cormier at UFC 226 earlier this month, via first round, knockout.
