UFC FN 135: James Vick’s Planning Future Move to 170

James Vick celebrating his victory

By FCF Staff

James Vick made weight for his bout tonight with lightweight contender, Justin Gaethje, but the surging fighter says a move to welterweight will take place at some juncture in the future.

Vick came in at 156 for tonight’s contest, which will headline UFC Fight Night 135 in Lincoln. But, Vick appeared to be very pale after making weight, and his cheeks were sunken.

Following his weigh-in, Vick had this to say about his cut, and his future at 155 (quotes via MMA Junkie):

“It sucks – it’s never good,” he said. “But it’s not any worse or better than usual. It’s basically the same as always.”

“My goal is to become a world champion, defend it a few times, and then move up. If I move up right now, I’ve got to start at Ground Zero.”

The 31 year-old Vick is riding a four fight winning streak heading into UFC FN 135. The former WSOF champ Gaethje, meanwhile, has lost consecutive bouts to Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier.
