UFC FN 137: Hector Lombard Reports Fighting’s Top Priority Once Again
By FCF Staff
After dropping five consecutive fights, Hector Lombard is reporting that fighting is once again his top priority, as he gets set to compete at UFC Fight Night 137.
The former Bellator middleweight champ is booked to take on Thales Leites on Saturday, at the UFC’s latest event in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Recently Lombard spoke with MMA Junkie, and while discussing his mindset heading into the bout, the 40 year-old said this:
“The past fights, a lot was going on,” Lombard said. “Fighting for me was like – it wasn’t the No. 1. So much was going on fighting was the second, it wasn’t the first. I tried to get back in and have it be like it was before. Fighting is No. 1.”
“When the time comes I feel like I don’t have the energy, I feel weak, I feel like my body isn’t moving the way it’s supposed to move, I will call it a day,” Lombard said, while discussing the possibility of retirement. “I feel good, I feel strong. The age I don’t think is something I have to worry about. I have to worry about how my body is, how my conditioning is. I don’t have to think about retirement yet.”
Lombard’s (34-9-1, 2 no contests) last win took place in 2014, when he earned a decision win over Jake Shields.
