Following a disappointing no-contest in their first meeting, a second bout between Melvin Guillard and Ross Pearson has been cancelled, as a result of a knee injury to the latter. The UFC has announced, however, that Michael Johnson has agreed to step in and fight Guillard on March 8th.

UFC FN 37 will be hosted by O2 Arena in London, England, and will feature Alexander Gustafsson taking on light-heavyweight Jimi Manuwa in the main event.

Johnson (14-8) is coming off impressive consecutive wins, as after the TUF vet decisioned Joe Lauzon in August, he KO’d Gleison Tibau last month. The 27 year-old lightweight is 3-2 in his last 5 contests.

Guillard (31-12-2) hasn’t fought since October when his aforementioned fight with Pearson was declared a no-contest. Doctors prevented Pearson from continuing after a knee from Guillard opened up a large gash over his eye. It was ruled that Pearson had technically been down for the strike, however, and the bout was called off.

Prior to that Guillard knocked out Mac Danzig at UFC on FOX 8 in July. The 30 year-old fighter is 2-2 with 1 NC in his last 5 contests.

UFC FN 37 will be streamed online throughout North America via UFC Fight Pass.
