Norman Parke had his nine fight winning streak brought to a halt, last night at UFC Fight Night 38, but not because the TUF Smashes winner was defeated by Leonardo Santos.

The lightweight bout was eventually declared a majority draw, with one judge ruling it for Santos, after Parke was deducted a point for holding onto his opponent’s shorts.

After the bout, here is some of what Parke had to say to FOX Sports 1 about the ruling.

“I knew it was a close fight. I was winning the second round. They took a point off it. I thought they’d give me a warning,” the 27 year-old fighter said. “If it hadn’t been for that point deduction, I would have won a split decision. I should have been a wee bit more aggressive and come forward instead of letting him throw his punches at me. It was warm in there. It was tough after the first round. I was boiling up in there.”

Since competing on TUF Smashes, Parke has scored wins over Colin Fletcher, Kazuki Tokudome, and Jon Tuck. The Northern Ireland fighter’s record currently stands at 19-2-1.
