UFC FN 47: Abel Trujillo Withdraws, Gray Maynard Facing Ross Pearson
By FCF Staff
The August 16th, UFC Fight Night card in Maine has received a late change, as Abel Trujillo has withdrawn from his bout with Ross Pearson due to injury. As a result, Gray Maynard has been moved from a fight with Fabricio Camoes to face Pearson.
The nature of Trujillo’s injury was not disclosed in the UFC’s announcement. The promotion has also announced that Camoes will be re-scheduled for a bout later this year.
Pearson (15-7) is coming off a controversial, split decision loss to Diego Sanchez in June, after his fight with Melvin Guillard last October was declared a no contest (Pearson was cut badly with an illegal knee strike).
Maynard (11-3-1) hasn’t fought since he was stopped by Nate Diaz in the first round at the TUF 18 Finale in November. Prior to that, the noted wrestler was TKO’d by TJ Grant.
UFC FN 47 will be hosted by Bangor’s Cross Insurance Center, and will feature a light-heavyweight bout between Ryan Bader and Ovince St-Preux in the main event.
