(Updated) UFC FN 48: Dana White Confirms Judge Removed From Duties After First Two Bouts

UFC President Dana White

By FCF Staff

In the absence of an athletic commission, the Ultimate Fighting Championship oversees its own events in China, and the promotion elected to remove a judge today at UFC Fight Night 48.

UFC President Dana White confirmed at the post-fight presser that the promotion pulled a judge, whose name was not disclosed, after questionable scoring in the first two bouts. White noted that the judge was relieved so the official could “start watching some fights, not judging them.”

The first two preliminary fights saw Royston Wee and Milana Dudieva receive split decision wins over Yao Zhikui and Elizabeth Phillips respectively.

UFC FN 48 was hosted by the Cotai Arena in Macao, China.

(Update: according to a follow up report from MMA Junkie.com, the UFC has confirmed that the official who was relieved from his duties was judge Howard Hughes)
