Although Jordan Mein and Mike Pyle have lost their original opponents for UFC Fight Night 49, just over two weeks away from the event, the welterweights will still fight on August 23rd. In fact, they’ll fight each other.

Pyle was booked to fight Demian Maia at UFC FN 49, and Mein was set to face Brandon Thatch. Since Maia and Thatch have been forced to withdraw due to injuries, the UFC has matched Pyle up against Mein.

Mein (28-9) is coming off a split decision win over Hernani Perpetuo at UFC on FOX 11 in April, after he was stopped by Matt Brown in April, 2013. The 24 year-old fighter is 4-1 in his last 5 contests.

Pyle (26-9-1) scored a stoppage win over TJ Waldburger at UFC 170 in February, after he was KO’d by the aforementioned Brown last August. Pyle is also 4-1 in his last 5 fights.

UFC FN 49 will feature a lightweight bout between Benson Henderson and Rafael dos Anjos in the headliner. The card will be hosted by the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
