UFC FN 62: Ryan LaFlare Says Demian Maia’s “Where I Want to Be”
By FCF Staff
Ryan LaFlare is currently on the outside of the UFC’s top ten, welterweight rankings looking in, and the undefeated fighter hopes to change all that Saturday night.
At UFC FN 62 the #14 ranked LaFlare will battle longtime contender Demian Maia, who is positioned at #7. Recently LaFlare spoke with “UFC Tonight“, and while discussing his desire to face Maia and what’s on the line, he stated (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release):
“Nothing personal, he was the only one available in the top 10. He’s where I want to be. Sorry bud, got to get out of my way.”
“I’m fighting my stride. This is my coming out party. I’m going to get it done. I want to keep getting better with all my fights.”
LaFlare (11-0) is coming off a unanimous decision win over John Howard last April, and has gone 4-0 to date in the UFC.
Maia (19-6), meanwhile, hasn’t fought since last May when he decisioned Alexander Yakovlev. The world class, grappler is 3-2 in his last 5 contests.
