UFC FN 63: Benson Henderson Replacing Injured Jorge Masvidal

It hasn’t taken Benson Henderson long to get another fight, as following his decision loss to Donald Cerrone last weekend, he’s been tapped to fight Jorge Masvidal on April 4th.

Bobby Green was originally scheduled to fight Masvidal at UFC FN 63, but according to the UFC’s official announcement, the lightweight contender has torn his quad. As a result, Henderson has agreed to step in for the injured fighter at the event, which will take place in Fairfax, Virginia.

Henderson (21-5) is coming off consecutive losses for the first time in his career, as prior to his tightly contested, defeat to Cerrone at UFC FN 59, he was stopped by Rafael dos Anjos last August. The former lightweight champ is currently ranked #5 in the UFC’s 155 division.

Masvidal (28-8) is riding a three fight winning streak, and is coming off victories over Pat Healy, Daron Cruickshank and James Krause. The last man to defeat “Gamebred” was Rustam Khabilov. Masvidal is ranked #13.

UFC FN 63 will be headlined by a pivotal, featherweight bout between contenders Ricardo Lamas and Chad Mendes.
