UFC FN 65’s Mark Hunt: “I’d Rather Have Nothing And Try For Everything”

Tomorrow night at UFC Fight Night 65, Mark Hunt will do his best to remain within striking distance of a title shot, when he battles fellow heavyweight contender, Stipe Miocic.

It’s the latest bout in Hunt’s ongoing, and many would say surprising title shot run, which dates back to 2010. Back then, Hunt was coming off a submission loss to Sean McCorkle in his UFC debut, and had lost six straight.

Hunt turned things around, however, and proceeded to win four straight, before he was stopped by Junior dos Santos in 2013. The 41 year-old has gone 1-1-1 since that bout, with his only loss coming to Fabricio Werdum in November.

“I don’t really look back (at that time in my career); I’ve accomplished a lot more than a lot of fighters in the world,” Hunt said in a recent story from UFC.com, while discussing when his MMA career looked to be in doubt. ” Not many people can say they’ve done two combat sports and been at the top. I’ve already won my world title in my chosen sport (kickboxing). Winning a world title in MMA is a bonus. I don’t look back, I’m just doing it now. I’ll go do it now and see what happens. If it works out, it works out. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t. I’d rather have nothing and try for everything; that’s just the way I look at things.”

Hunt is currently ranked #5 in the UFC’s heavyweight division, while Miocic is positioned at #4.

UFC FN 65 will be hosted by Adelaide, Australia.
