Joanna Jedrzejczyk is the latest European fighter to turn heads throughout the world, and according to the UFC champ, the region is set to become a MMA super power.

Jedrzejczyk will fight Jessica Penne tomorrow in Berlin, Germany, in what will be her first title defense, since the strawweight stopped Carla Esparza at UFC 185. The 27 year-old, who is the first female, European to win UFC gold, recently spoke to UFC.com about her next bout. While doing so, the Polish star had this to say about the evolution of MMA in Europe:

“European fighters are complete MMA fighters,” Jedrzejczyk said. “We are not just focused on wrestling or grappling or jiu-jitsu. We are doing all kind of things: striking, boxing, Muay Thai. That’s why we will become the best fighters in the world. Most of the time, the American fighters are focused on just wrestling or just one part of the preparation. This is the mistake Carla made.”

Jedrzejczyk has gone 3-0 now in the UFC, which also includes wins over Cláudia Gadelha and Juliana Lima. The strawweight is also a multiple time, world champion in Muay Thai.

Penne (12-2) was tapped for a title shot after she decisioned Randa Markos in December.

UFC FN 69 will be hosted by the O2 World, and the card will be streamed on Fight Pass.
