UFC FN 76: Tom Breese Outlines Why “Boring” Tristar Dorms is a Good Thing

Tom Breese had to travel thousands of miles away from home, and live in rather modest conditions, but the English fighter believes life in the Tristar dorms was worth it.

Breese is preparing for his October 24th bout with Cathal Pendred, after relocating to Montreal, Quebec, to train at Tristar fulltime. Breese decided to make the move after living in the famous gym’s dorms before.

In a recent interview with UFC.com, here is some of what the rising fighter had to say about the experience.

“The dorms are very boring. But it’s kind of good because it forces you to train,” Breese said. “Obviously, there are times in the dorms when it gets lonely, (but) there’s a good bunch of guys in the dorms. I kind of feel like we have a little family going on here. You train together, you eat together and you have the same dreams and goals. It becomes kind of like a family, like a brotherhood.”

“When I was home in England, I had my own place and everything; it was more comfortable, but the training wasn’t the same. I’m willing to sacrifice living comfortably to be able to train here. This is a hundred percent the route that I want to go…”

The 24 year-old welterweight is coming off a successful UFC debut in May, when he stopped Luiz Jorge Dutra Jr. in the opening round. Breese currently holds a record of 8-0.

UFC FN 76 will take place in Dublin, Ireland, where Pendred is from (17-3-1). The latter is coming off a split decision loss to John Howard in July.
