UFC FN 85: Frank Mir Reminds Mark Hunt He’s a “Threat” Standing And on The Ground

Much of the pre-fight narrative for UFC Fight Night 85 has focused on the striking skills of Mark Hunt, and the submission game of Frank Mir, but the latter is reminding folks he’s dangerous everywhere.

Mir and Hunt will battle in the headliner of the Brisbane card, which will air this Saturday in North America, and take place in Australia on March 20th.

In Hunt, Mir will take on one of the most decorated and dangerous stand-up artists in the UFC’s heavyweight division. Recently the former champ appeared on “UFC Tonight“, and the vaunted grappler had this to say about the match-up (quote via FOX Sports press release):

“His strong suit is striking. He’s not a threat to finish the fight on ground. I’m a threat at both. I have to be aggressive and play to get fight to ground. If I can make takedowns a threat, then that drops his standup down a level because he’ll have to defend more, and it increases my ability to do standup. If he commits to a standup fight, it’s easier to get him down.”

Mir (18-10) is coming off a decision loss to Andrei Arlovski in September, and Hunt (11-10-1) took out Antonio Silva in his last bout, back in November.
