UFC FN 86: Junior dos Santos Says he “Felt The Difference” Fighting Without Long Time Coach in His Corner
By FCF Staff
After being taken out by Alistair Overeem in his last outing, without his long time coach Luiz Dorea in his corner, Junior dos Santos has taken steps to make sure that won’t be the case at UFC Fight Night 86.
The former heavyweight champ is scheduled to fight Ben Rothwell in Zagreb, Croatia, tomorrow, after dos Santos was stopped by Overeem in December. This time around, however, “Cigano’s” boxing coach will be in his corner to help him out.
JDS recently spoke to UFC.com about the upcoming fight, and while discussing Dorea, he stated:
“Yeah, I missed him and I felt the difference,” dos Santos said.
“We brought him to help us at ATT,” Dos Santos said. “The last time, we couldn’t bring him to stay with me, and it was the first time he wasn’t there with me and the result was a little negative. But now I’m happy that I have him with me. He knows me very well, he knows how to motivate me and how to push me very hard in my training sessions. I like it a lot, and I think it’s gonna be very good for this fight having him in my corner, and listening to his advice. It’s better now that he’s here.”
Rothwell, meanwhile, is coming off a submission win over Josh Barnett and has won four straight bouts.
