After taking out Rafael dos Anjos in the opening round last night, newly crowned champ Eddie Alvarez is calling for an “easier fight”, specifically, one with Conor McGregor.

Alvarez faced dos Anjos in the main event of UFC Fight Night 90, and put away the highly regarded fighter with an extended series of punches. After the event, the lightweight champ had this to say at the post-fight presser (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“To be able to come out with a win over him, and before him was [Anthony] Pettis, and before him was Gilbert [Melendez], these are the best guys in the division. I’m not taking on top 15 guys. So I would ask Dana White, please give me an easier fight like Conor McGregor. I deserve that. I’ve been fighting the best guys, so I would like a gimme fight. So, Conor, I’d more than welcome that.”

McGregor, meanwhile, is scheduled to rematch Nate Diaz in a welterweight contest at UFC 202 on August 20th. In March, McGregor was scheduled to fight RDA, until the latter had to withdraw with a broken foot.

UFC FN 90 took place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
