UFC FN 95: Rafael Cordeiro Says Cris “Cyborg’s” “Brave Spirit” is Her “Main Weapon”
By FCF Staff
Cris “Cyborg” has become one of the top fighters in MMA thanks to her ferocious striking and underrated ground game, but her longtime coach says her “brave spirit” is one of her greatest weapons.
“Cyborg” is scheduled to fight decorated Muay Thai competitor, Lina Lansberg, this Saturday in the main event of UFC Fight Night 95. Recently UFC.com ran a story about “Cyborg”, and it included comments from Rafael Cordeiro. The latter was one of “Cyborg’s” coaches when she trained with the renowned Chute Boxe team in Brazil, and he continues to coach her at his new gym, Kings MMA, in California.
While discussing “Cyborg” and her evolution as a fighter, Cordeiro stated the following:
“She always had a brave spirit, that’s her main weapon against any opponent,” Cordeiro said. “Cris used to train with men at the gym, and the guys knew they shouldn’t take her for granted because she wasn’t afraid, and she would always keep moving towards them.”
The Brazilian star made her Octagon this past May and stopped Leslie Smith in the opening round. Lansberg, meanwhile, has yet to compete in the Octagon.
UFC FN 95 will take place in Brasilia, Brazil.
