Although Roy Nelson has gone 1-4 in his last five bouts, the heavy handed heavyweight says a win over “Bigfoot” Silva on Saturday will propel him back into the title shot mix.

As UFC Fight Night 95 approaches, Nelson is coming off a split decision loss to Derrick Lewis in July. Prior to that Nelson decisioned Jared Rosholt in February, and in doing so, ended a three fight losing skid.

Recently Nelson (21-13) appeared on “UFC Tonight“, and when asked what a win over Silva would mean, the veteran stated (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release):

“It puts me on a three-fight win streak and right at the top, fighting for the belt.”

Silva (19-9-1), meanwhile, is coming off consecutive, stoppage losses to Mark Hunt and Stefan Struve.

“The challenges he offers are everything,” Nelson said, while discussing “Bigfoot”. “He’s a complete mixed martial artist. He’s beat the best. He’s knocked out Overeem. He beat Fedor. It’s heavyweight. You can win some and lose some, but you’ve got to watch.”

UFC FN 95 will be hosted by Brasilia, Brazil.
