UFC Fort Lauderdale: John Lineker on Why He’ll be Demanding a Title Shot With Win
By FCF Staff
John Lineker isn’t ranked in the top five of the UFC’s bantamweight rankings. But, the feared slugger says he’ll be demanding a title shot, if he wins tonight at UFC Lauderdale.
The Brazilian fighter will take on rising bantamweight Corey Sandhagen tonight, and the bout will mark the first time he has fought since last May, when he KO’d Brian Kelleher. While speaking to the media recently about the state of the 135 divison, and where he fits, Lineker had this to say (quote via MMA Junkie):
“I’m going to ask – actually, I’m going to demand (the title shot),” Lineker said. “Because I think I’ve done enough and I think I deserve to fight for this title and I think the UFC should give it to me.”
“I feel really good,” Lineker said. “This is one of the best camps I’ve done and I’m ready for this fight, I’m well prepared with both my body and psychologically.”
“Hands of Stone” has gone 8-2 in his last 10 fights, and the only men to defeat him during that time are now former champ, T.J. Dillashaw and Ali Bagautinov. As the event nears, Lineker is ranked #8 in the bantamweight division.
