As the MMA world waits to see how things will play out in the UFC’s lightweight championship picture, Al Iaquinta is angling for a fight with Tony Ferguson.

Iaquinta took on fellow lightweight contender Kevin Lee on Saturday night, and proceeded to outscore the rising star for the decision win. The fight marked the second time ‘Raging Al’ has defeated Lee.

As 2018 winds down, it remains to be seen what’s next for lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is awaiting disciplinary action from the Nevada Commission, due to the post-fight brawl he was involved in at UFC 229 (when he submitted Conor McGregor). UFC President Dana White has said, however, that he believes Ferguson should be next for Nurmagomedov.

Well, following Iaquinta’s memorable win at UFC Milwaukee, the outspoken fighter had this to say about his next bout (quotes via MMA Junkie):

“I think Ferguson’s the guy,” Iaquinta said. “I think I’m a perfect style matchup to beat him. If there’s any holdup, that’s the guy I want to fight.

“He’s gets hurt in his fights. I think I’m a better finisher than the guys he’s fought. I think I’m getting the job done against Ferguson.”

Ferguson, who has won 11 straight fights, is coming off a stoppage win over Anthony Pettis in October.
