Demian Maia will be taking on one of the most experienced, and well rounded fighters in the welterweight division tonight at UFC on FOX 21, and recently Kenny Florian outlined the fighter’s keys to victory.

Maia will face Carlos Condit in the tonight’s headliner, who has long been considered one of the best 170’ers on the planet. On the most recent edition of “UFC Tonight“, Florian offered this take on what Maia needs to do, if he hopes to defeat Condit.

“He’s one of the best Brazilian jiu-jitsu artists to ever compete in the Octagon. He’s got to back Condit up, get the respect with his hands and get in grappling range. He’s got to vary his attack. He doesn’t want to be predictable. And key number three, he needs to land the takedown. If he gets you down, you’re not getting back up.”

The vaunted grappler is riding a five fight winning streak heading into UFC on FOX 21. Condit, meanwhile, is coming off a split decision loss to now former champ Robbie Lawler in January.

UFC on FOX 21 will be hosted by Vancouver, British Columbia.
