The Ultimate Fighting Championship continues to build the line-up for its December 14th, FOX card, as the promotion has announced that Chad Mendes will fight fellow featherweight contender Nik Lentz at the event. Not long ago the UFC announced that lightweight champion Anthony Pettis will fight Josh Thomson at UFC on FOX 9, as TJ Grant has not fully recovered from a concussion he incurred earlier this year.

Mendes (15-1) has stopped four consecutive opponents since he was KO’d by champion Jose Aldo in January, 2012, to retain his #1 slot in the UFC’s rankings. Most recently, the Team Alpha Male fighter TKO’d Clay Guida at UFC 164 on August 31st.

Lentz (24-5-2) has continued to impress since dropping down from lightweight, as he’s defeated the likes of Eiji Mitsuoka, Diego Nunes and Hacran Dias in a row.

UFC on FOX 9 will be hosted by Sacramento’s Sleep Train Arena and will also feature Urijah Faber fighting bantamweight Michael McDonald.
