UFC on FOX 9: Faber Fighting McDonald in Co-Headliner
By FCF Staf
The UFC has announced that former WEC featherweight champ Urijah Faber will battle rising bantamweight Michael McDonald in the co-main-event of UFC on FOX 9. The card will take place on December 14th in Sacramento, California.
According to a report from “UFC Tonight”, the UFC would like to have a lightweight fight between champion Anthony Pettis and TJ Grant headline the card. Grant has reportedly said, however, he would like to wait until January to fight. The lightweight is recovering from a concussion that forced him to withdraw from an August 31st bout with Benson Henderson.
Faber (29-6) fought at UFC FN 26 in August and defeated Yuri Alcantara by decision, after scoring wins over Ivan Menjivar and Scott Jorgensen. The last man to defeat him is interim champ Renan Barao, who decisioned Faber at UFC 149 last July.
McDonald (16-2) also fought on August 17th, as he forced Brad Pickett to tap-out to a second round, triangle-choke. The fight returned McDonald to the winning track, after he was submitted by Barao in February.
UFC on FOX 9 will be hosted by the Sleep Train Arena (formerly Arco Arena).
