The UFC has announced that not only is Scott Jorgensen dropping to flyweight, but that the top ten ranked featherweight will fight the promotion’s #3 125’er in Ian McCall next. The bout will be part of the December 14th, UFC on FOX 9 card, which will take place in Sacramento, California.

Jorgensen (14-7) is making the move several months after he was submitted by the decorated Urijah Faber at the TUF 13 Finale in April. Heading into the bout Jorgensen was coming off a first round, tap-out victory over John Albert last December. Although the 31 year-old is 2-3 in his last 5 outings, the additional losses came against interim bantamweight champ Renan Barao and contender Eddie Wineland.

McCall (12-4-1) worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Iliarde Santos in his last fight, which took place at UFC 163 in August. The win followed UD losses to Joseph Benavidez and champion Demetrious Johnson, the latter of which McCall also battled to a draw in March, 2012. The 29 year-old vet is also 2-2-1 in his last 5 bouts.

UFC on FOX 9 will be hosted by Sacramento’s Sleep Train Arena and will feature lightweight champion Anthony Pettis taking on Josh Thomson in the main event.
