Alexander Gustafsson didn’t disappoint his hometown fans in Stockholm, Sweden today, as the surging light-heavyweight worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Thiago Silva at the UFC on FUEL TV card.

Early on, it appeared as though the main event bout might end quickly, as Gustafsson floored Silva with an uppercut moments into the fight. The highly regarded Brazilian managed to survive Gustafsson’s follow up attacks, however, and battled on for the remainder of the fight.

Despite Silva’s aggressiveness, he was unable to land much on the elusive and rangy Gustafsson, who consistently outscored his opponent with jabs and strikes from the outside.

With the win, Gustafsson has won five straight fights to extend his overall record to 14-1. Silva’s record now sits at 14-3.
