UFC Rankings Update: Andrei Arlovski Jumps Into Top Ten
By FCF Staff
Andrei Arlovski took out heavyweight contender Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva in emphatic fashion at UFC FN 51, and the former champ has moved into the promotion’s top ten rankings as a result.
Arlovski, who knocked out Silva with a series of hammer fists in the opening round, has moved up 7 rankings spots and is now ranked #7. Silva, on the other hand, has dropped down from #4 to #9.
The win was Arlovski’s second since he returned to the UFC earlier this year, as in June, he earned a tightly contested, split decision over Brendan Schaub.
The new rankings also included recently signed Holly Holm, who is now positioned at #15 in the women’s bantamweight division. The decorated boxer and undefeated MMA fighter has yet to have her UFC debut announced.
The UFC rankings are determined by a media panel following each of the promotion’s events.
