UFC Rankings Update: Browne Makes Big Move, Brown Cracks Top Ten

Travis Browne

By FCF Staff

Travis Browne scored the biggest win of his career at UFC Fight Night 26 on Saturday night, by knocking out Alistair Overeem, and the heavyweight has made a big move up the promotion’s rankings as a result.

According to the latest rankings, which are voted on by a panel of media members, Browne has moved up three spots and now sits at #5. Overeem, on the other hand, dropped down two rankings and is now #7.

Another fighter who benefitted greatly from his performance Saturday is Matt Brown, who blasted through Mike Pyle in under one minute. The rugged welterweight, who has won six straight fights, has moved into the #10 ranking.

Former light-heavyweight champ “Shogun” Rua, who was quickly submitted by Chael Sonnen in the main event, dropped one slot and is now ranked #9. Sonnen, who wasn’t ranked in the top ten at 205 pounds prior to the card, is now positioned at #10.

Bantamweight veteran Brad Pickett is no longer ranked in the top five, due to his submission loss to the #3 ranked Michael McDonald, as he’s dropped to #6. Veteran Raphael Assuncao is now ranked #5.

UFC FN 26 was hosted by Boston’s TD Garden Arena and was broadcast on FOX Sports 1.
