The Ultimate Fighting Championship has new television partners in Canada, as the promotion has announced that it has signed a multi-year, broadcasting deal with TSN, RDS and The Fight Network.
According to the promotion’s official announcement, TSN and RDS, the latter is a French Canadian network, will broadcast live events, preliminary fights, UFC Fight Nights, events, and “The Ultimate Fighter”.
The Fight Network, meanwhile, will carry global, UFC Fight Night cards and prelim bouts for non-pay-per-view events. In addition, the speciality channel will be broadcasting weigh-ins, press conferences and pre / post-fight analysis shows.
TSN’s first live broadcast will take place on January 3rd, when it airs the prelims for UFC 182.
For several months now, there has been speculation as to whether Sportsnet would renew its deal with the UFC, after it signed a multi-billion dollar broadcasting deal with the National Hockey League. Due to the extent of the NHL deal, far fewer timeslots were available for UFC broadcasts on Saturday nights.
