The Ultimate Fighting Championship has announced a signing that’s likely caught many observers off guard, as the promotion’s confirmed it’s come to terms with kickboxing star, Gokhan Saki.

Saki is widely regarded to be one of the best kickboxers in the world and holds a kickboxing record of 83-12 with 59 knockouts. During his career, the Dutch-Turkish fighter has defeated the likes of  Tyrone Spong, Daniel Ghiţă and Ray Sefo. Saki, however, has fought just once in MMA, and that was back in 2004, when he was defeated by James Zikic.

Saki’s Octagon debut has not been confirmed, however, the UFC is reporting that he hopes to fight on the promotion’s September 2nd card in Rotterdam. The announcement also says that Saki will be competing in the light-heavyweight division.
