UFC Stockholm: Volkan Oezdemir’s Focused on Building “Momentum”, Not Loss to Dominick Reyes

Volkan Oezdemir may not believe his record should include three straight wins, but the light-heavyweight isn’t dwelling on his loss to Dominick Reyes, as he gets set for UFC Stockholm.

The hard-hitting fighter is booked to face Ilir Latifi at this Saturday’s event, after dropping a split decision loss to Reyes in March. Following that defeat, which was Oezdemir’s third straight, he argued he “clearly” won the contest.

But, while speaking to the media this week, Oezdemir (15-4) had this to say when his loss to Reyes was brought up (quote via MMA Junkie):

“I don’t want to focus on this,” Oezdemir said. “I want to focus on the next fight, that’s what I want to do, right the wrong, and the way I want to do this is to have a big victory on Saturday night.”

And while discussing his upcoming bout with Latifi, “No Time” said this:

“The goal of the fight is actually to get back on the winning track, obviously,” Oezdemir said. “It’s three losses in a row right now, and that’s too much, I gotta stop, you know? I think it is the perfect fight for me right now to build momentum and I think it’s going to be a great night for me.”

Latifi (14-6) is also looking to get back on track, as he’s coming off a decision loss to Corey Anderson in December. Prior to that, the powerful fighter had won back-to-back bouts against Ovince Saint Preux and Tyson Pedro.
