UFC Terminates Thiago Silva’s Contract After Fighter’s Arrest
By FCF Staff
The Ultimate Fighting Championship has announced that Thiago Silva is no longer an employee of the promotion, after the fighter was arrested in Florida, Thursday, on multiple charges.
The following statement was posted on the UFC’s official site Friday: “The Ultimate Fighting Championship has terminated the contract of Thiago Silva, effective immediately.”
Silva has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, resisting an officer-obstruct without violence, and two counts of commit-attempt specified felony that could cause death, after an alleged incident at the Popovitch Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Center.
The 31 year-old light-heavyweight’s estranged wife reportedly trains at the Popovitch gym.
