Following his thrilling, submission win at UFC Vancouver, Misha Cirkunov has proclaimed he will be a top-five ranked, light-heavyweight someday.

Cirkunov faced prospect Jim Crute on Saturday and submitted the latter with a highlight reel, Peruvian necktie in round one. After the pivotal win, which handed Crute his first defeat, Cirkunov said this (quotes via MMA Junkie):

“Please don’t give up on me. I know I have a bright future in the UFC. I know it’s just a matter of time until I’m in the top five. Remember I said that: That day will come. Taking out someone like Crute is proof to myself and UFC fans to not count me out. I know I’ve lost some fights quickly, but don’t count me out.”

“I’m working very hard. It’s a rough business, but I know I’ll end up on top just like all of the other sports I’ve competed in. Just give me some time. I’ll be there.”

The 32-year-old Cirkunov (15-5) was coming off a quick, stoppage loss to Johnny Walker heading into UFC Vancouver. The promotion’s rankings have yet to be updated following UFC Vancouver, but Cirkunov is currently ranked #15.
