Chan Sung Jung understands that fighting in a UFC main event delivers more money and a bigger spotlight. But, ‘The Korean Zombie’ recently admitted he was hoping to fight Dan Ige in a co-headliner.

Jung and Ige will square off in the main event for UFC Vegas 29, which will go down on Saturday at the Apex Facility. While speaking to the media recently, however, the South Korean fighter relayed the following (quotes via MMA Junkie).

“I’ve been asking for a co-main event to do three rounds,” Jung said through an interpreter. “They didn’t give it to me. I was a little bit sad about that. There’s also an upside to being a main event. You get a lot more attention. A little bit more money and stuff like that. I definitely wanted to do a three-rounder.”

And while discussing Ige and how he sees the fight unfolding, Jung stated:

He’s a great all-around fighter. He likes to brawl, he’s an aggressive fighter which makes for an exciting fight. I’m super sorry, but I (only) knew who Ige was when he fought (Calvin) Kattar. … Dan’s a brawler. If he wants to brawl, I’ll more than welcome that kind of fight. I thought a lot of people were saying that about Ortega, too, that he was going to brawl with me. I was ready for that and it never happened. So, we’ll see what happens.”

Jung (16-6) hasn’t competed since October when he lost via decision to fellow, featherweight contender, Brian Ortega.

Ige (15-3), meanwhile, is coming off a quick knockout win over Gavin Tucker in March.
