UFC Vet Andre Winner Challenging BAMMA Lightweight Champ Rob Sinclair Sept. 15th

By FCF Staff

The British Association of Mixed Martial Arts has announced that the promotion’s lightweight champion Rob Sinclair will fight UFC veteran Andre Winner on September 15th.

The bout will headline the BAMMA 10 card, which will be hosted by London, England’s Wembley Arena.

Sinclair (11-2) is currently riding a four fight win streak, which includes victories over Nathan Beer, Daniel Weichel, Martin Begley and most recently Diego Vital.

“The fight between Rob Sinclair and Andre Winner is set now,” Sinclair was quoted saying in a press release from the promotion. “It’s been in the making for almost a year and it is going be the biggest domestic lightweight contest the UK has ever had, on the biggest show in Europe, for the biggest title BAMMA has, and on live TV.  I’m very privileged to be a part of it; this is going to be the biggest fight of my life and I will be ready.

“There’s no messing around now, this is serious stuff,” Sinclair added. I will be the underdog no doubt, but that’s what I thrive on. This is will be the hardest hitting, strongest, most explosive Rob ‘C4’ Sinclair you will ever see and that’s a promise!”

Winner (14-6) has scored back-to-backs wins over Jason Ball and Diego Gonzalez, since the British fighter dropped a unanimous decision loss to Anthony Njokuani at UFC 132 last July. Winner is 2-3 in his last five fights.

“I’ve been looking forward to this fight for a long time and I know a lot of people want to know who’d win out of me and Rob: Well, on September 15th they’re gonna find out,” said Winner. “I’m gonna be coming with skills he’s not faced before, so unless he can deal with them I’ll be walking away with the belt.  I’m in great shape and hungry to fight again so people should expect fireworks!”

Tickets for the event go on sale tomorrow.
