UFC Vet Eddie Yagin Preparing For Return, Hoping For “At Least One Fight This Year”

After being pulled from a scheduled bout with Dennis Siver last December, and having not fought since last April, Eddie Yagin believes his long road back to the Octagon is coming to an end.

Yagin was hospitalized last November as a result of a subdural hematoma he suffered, and has prevented him from fighting ever since. The 34 year-old vet informed Full Contact Fighter today that his recovery is on track and that he’s begun the process of getting licensed and medically cleared to fight again.

“Right now we’re in the process of just getting my license reinstated,” said Yagin. “Right now I’m just being patient and sitting on the sidelines and just waiting for the right time to come back in. Everything should come out as I expect it and hopefully I can get in at least one fight this year. That’s what I’m hoping for.”

Yagin added that he’s hoping to fight “right after summer” if possible, and that he would like to take on “one of the best guys in the world.”

In the featherweight’s last outing at UFC 145 in April, 2012, he worked his way to a split decision win over Mark Hominick, in what was one of the year’s top fights.

The whole interview with Yagin will be available for listening in this week’s latest edition of Full Contact Fighter Radio.
